Profiling Hockey Blades with the ProSharp AS 2001

Improve your performance with the right blade shape

What is profiling?

Profiling – sometimes called rockering – is the process of shaping the bottom curvature of your skate blade. It doesn't affect the hollow (depth of the sharpening) but changes the contact area the blade has with the ice.

🔹 It affects:

  • acceleration
  • balance
  • agility
  • stability when turning or stopping

Why is the right profile important?

The correct profile can significantly boost your on-ice performance, while the wrong one might cause:

  • loss of balance
  • tripping forward or backward
  • poor glide or acceleration

How does profiling work with the ProSharp AS 2001?

The ProSharp AS 2001 is one of the most advanced profiling machines. Its key benefits:

  • 🔧 Automated precision: every profile is perfectly consistent
  • 🌀 Multiple profile options: Single, Quad, Ellipse, Zuperior
  • 🧠 Custom settings: tailor the blade to each player's needs
  • Speed and repeatability: perfect for teams, clubs, and pros

What does each profile improve?

🌀 Single Radius (e.g., 9’, 10’, 11’, 13’)

  • Improves: stability, glide, smoothness
  • Best for: beginners, kids, recreational skaters
  • Note: shorter radius (9’) = more agility; longer (13’) = more stability

🔀 Quad Profiles (Quad 0, I, II, III)

  • Improves: transitions, control, acceleration, balance
  • Best for: competitive and pro players
  • Note: uses up to four different radii across the blade

🧭 Ellipse Profiles (Ellipse Zero, I, II)

  • Improves: fluidity, natural stride, skating feel
  • Best for: technical players, forwards, mobile defensemen
  • Note: smooth curve with no sharp transitions

⚡ Zuperior Profiles (Z, Z2, M)

  • Improves: explosiveness, quick starts, edge control
  • Best for: fast, powerful forwards
  • Note: designed for dynamic acceleration and energy transfer

Quad I / II / III 🟢🟢🟢🟢 🟢🟢🟢 🟢🟢🟢🟢 🟢🟢🟢🟢 🟢🟢🟢🟢
